What is glamping?
The term “glamping” refers to glamorous camping. Bringing an element of luxury to the camping world, you no longer need to rough it inside a cramped tent and a sleeping bag. Instead, think of a comfortable night’s stay in a tepee, shepherd’s hut or motorhome.
The level of glamping you want to do is completely up to you – it can be as simple or as extravagant as you like. Most glamping sites offer actual beds with comfortable mattresses, pillows and a duvet, as well as other amenities including hot showers, flushable toilets and kitchenettes.
Glamping is incredibly adaptable and versatile and can turn a normal camping trip into a home away from home. Some sites include a log burner and a hob tub with your glamping set up, offering a real treat if you’ve planned a trip away for a special occasion.
Glamping is on the rise
Glamping allows people to get away from the reality of their everyday lives, combining both the great outdoors with luxury amenities and home comforts.
Whilst some holidaymakers still prefer to be at one with nature, glamping appeals to a wide variety of demographics, encouraging those who originally hated the idea of camping to try the trendy phenomenon.
Targeting families and young couples aged between 25-35, glamping has certainly become a desirable staycation for many.
How much does it cost?
The cost of glamping depends on the type of experience you’re after. Whilst it offers an exciting way of enjoying nature without the need to sacrifice your comforts, the cost of this can be at a premium.
However, whilst the cost of luxury can be off-putting for some, a glamorous camping experience can certainly be worthwhile. Being immersed in nature surrounded by convenient amenities to ensure you’re at your most comfortable is certainly a desirable holiday.
It’s worth considering any additional costs too when working out your glamping budget. If you’re heading off in a motorhome, you’ll need to ensure you have the appropriate motorhome insurance in place.
If your glamp site doesn’t have a kitchenette, you might need to bring your own cooking tools and appliances, such as a portable gas stove, camping kettle, washing up products and food for the duration of your stay. If you don’t already have these, camping appliances can certainly add up.
